Summer heat and supply chain delays have tightened access to popular garden spots around the city, making advance checks on entry fees, parking and stock essential for anyone planning a trip.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden on Piedmont Avenue Northeast charges $29 for adult admission this month and requires timed tickets through its website. Nearby, the Piedmont Park Community Garden on 12th Street offers free entry for members but charges $25 annual dues plus a $50 plot fee for new participants who must apply through the park's conservancy office.
Shoppers at the Home Depot location on Monroe Drive in Virginia-Highland report mulch prices at $6.98 per bag, up from $5.50 last summer. The store opens at 6 a.m. daily, yet popular compost mixes sell out by midday on weekends.
Check the Georgia Organics website for updated lists of bulk soil suppliers in the West End, where delivery fees start at $75 for orders under one ton. Residents near Inman Park can reserve free tool-sharing slots at the neighborhood tool library on Euclid Avenue by calling ahead on weekdays.
Bring cash for smaller vendors at the Atlanta State Farmers Market on Murphy Avenue, where plant starts range from $4 to $12 each. Review parking rules at each site, as the botanical garden lots fill by 10 a.m. on Saturdays and overflow options require a short walk from the MARTA Arts Center station.
