Atlanta Track Club reported a 28 percent increase in paid members from January through June 2026, reaching 4,800 active participants across its weekly group runs.
That growth comes as residents seek steady social outlets after several years of fragmented schedules and shifting work patterns. Clubs have responded by emphasizing repeated meetups on familiar streets rather than one-off events that draw transient crowds.
Every Tuesday evening the Atlanta Track Club meets at the corner of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue, then follows a 5-mile loop that crosses into the BeltLine trail near the Historic Fourth Ward Park. A separate Wednesday morning group starts from the Virginia-Highland business district and covers a 4-mile circuit that ends at the shops along North Highland Avenue. Both sessions finish with coffee or post-run stretches at nearby cafes, turning the workout into an extended neighborhood stop.
These fixed locations have helped retain runners who might otherwise train alone. New participants pay a $25 annual fee that covers insurance and access to club calendars, while drop-in visitors contribute $5 per session to cover water and safety vests.
Club records indicate average attendance of 120 runners at the Tuesday Midtown start this spring, compared with 95 the same month in 2025. Organizers credit the consistency to the short, repeatable routes that keep participants within a few blocks of home or transit stops. A July 15 time-trial event on the same Midtown course is already at capacity with 200 entrants registered at $12 each.
Interested runners can locate the current schedule on the Atlanta Track Club website or arrive at the 10th Street meeting point at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The club also lists contact details for the Virginia-Highland Wednesday group, which begins at 7 a.m. from the intersection of North Highland and Ponce de Leon Avenue.
